Even
though this hole is short, I think this is one of the toughest holes
at Pebble Creek. First of all, there is trouble on both sides of the fair-
way. If you miss left, you are out of bounds or will probably have to
take an unplayable lie. If you miss right, you are in a fairway bunker
that you will have to hit a shot over the water from or maybe even in
the creek.
Next: even if you hit a good drive, the second shot is tough. For
instance, you have a pond in front, left, and long of the green. If you
miss out to the right, you have a tough up and down as you stare back
at the water--sounds like a 7 to me. So, how do I play this hole you
ask? My suggestion is skip it and take par! However, if your partners
are going to make you play it , you HAVE to hit it in the fairway, even
if it takes a 5-iron to get you there. Once you approach your second
shot, try to block out the pin and focus on the exact middle of the
green. Pick the club that will get you to the middle of the green, and if you miss, make sure it is long and right.
I know I sound like a broken record saying hit to the middle of the green; most of you have heard that before I'm sure.
Pebble Creek is not that hard of a golf course from the tee to the green. What makes this course a challenge is when you get
the awkward lies around the greens and the tricky undulating putts. If you can get that ball in the center of the greens, I
guarantee your score will be lower. Well, we missed the green long and right and could not get it up and down; let's take our
bogey, go to two over par and go to number 7.
