Well,
we are past the short par three and are now faced with one of
the more difficult par fours on the course. Hole number fourteen is a
par hole for all players; our plan here is to get a four and move on.
Number fourteen is a blind driving hole with a slight dogleg right.
Out of bounds guards both the right and left sides of play. The smart
play off the tee is a strong drive to the left of the trees that line the
cart path. There is plenty of room to the left of the trees to bail out,
but this will add considerable distance to the second shot. We are
trying to leave ourselves a comfortable shot into the green that is well
guarded by a series of mounds. If there is a spot to miss on this
approach, it would be just short of the green. This will allow a level
chip shot and a better chance at getting up and down for par. But our
approach shot was a good one, and we are sitting pretty in the center
of the green. The green on number fourteen is large with plenty of
undulation. Our goal is a two putt and move on to the fifteenth tee box.
We met our goal, and we carded a four on the fourteenth!
